About Polyframe

The Polyframe Group, with it’s headquarters in Gibbet Street, Halifax, seems to defy all the odds and continue to grow in what are very difficult economic times, particularly for the manufacturing sector of the UK. Polyframe have grown rapidly to become the UK’s largest independent manufacturers of PVCu windows, doors and conservatories.  Since the business was established over 20 years ago the product offering has grown and changed beyond recognition, making Polyframe the true ‘one stop shop’ for the window industry.

The first seeds of the Polyframe business were sown in 1992 by the late Mario Earley and current Chairman, Martyn Buckley.  The original company, Hi-Spec Windows, was a small business that supplied and installed PVCu windows to the retail market for a small percentage profit.

In 1994 a decision was made to venture into the manufacturing sector of the industry to enable the company to become self sufficient in a very competitive market place – and Polyframe was born.  Since 1995, when the company occupied a 1000 sq. ft. unit and produced a mere 40 frames a week and employed only 3 people, Polyframe grew rapidly and moved to a 10 000 sq. foot factory, quickly followed by a further move to a 40 000 sq. foot factory and then a further relocation into a 90 000 sq. ft. factory unit in 1999 to increase capacity to manufacture up to 1200 frames per week.

The business continued to grow and in 2002 moved into the current premises in Gibbet St Halifax which boasts a 200 000 sq. ft. modern fabrication plant with a capacity for 8000 windows and 1000 doors each week.  Recent years have seen an investment of over £4 million in new technology and state of the art manufacturing plant to ensure that every frame is manufactured to the highest possible quality.  Additionally as the business has grown and volumes increased sophisticated bar coding technology is utilised throughout the factory to ensure that the right product is delivered on time – every time.

Over the past three years the product range has grown significantly with the business now manufacturing 7 different PVCu profiles, whilst at the same time introducing a series of unique products for their customers including a modular conservatory range, a fire escape ladder and a range of 7 coloured profiles offered from stock.

The last 3 years has seen continued growth, so it became apparent that further manufacturing capacity was required.  As a result, 2011 saw Polyframe purchase a well known company in the south of England, Aspen Windows, with it’s, 100 000 sq. ft., manufacturing facility in Norwich. The new factory enables Polyframe to service the ever-increasing customer base in the south and the increasing volumes being ordered.  The Norwich factory has taken the business to new levels and further augmented the manufacturing capacity of the company.

2012 has also seen continued growth of the business with a new Composite Door factory being opened. The Composite Door factory located in Mansfield will enable the group to offer a high quality yet competitively priced door to Polyframe customers.

Further investment has been made in 2013 with the acquisition of a factory in Northern Ireland from Turkington Windows.  This new facility enables Polyframe to expand the product offering and introduce a new 60mm Rehau profile which is prevalent in Ireland.  Polyframe have also launched their unique Assured profile, which is manufactured in Northern Ireland.

Polyframe are proud of the options that they can offer to their customers.  Manufacturing 7 profiles, WHS Halo Eclipse and Rustique along with 4 Rehau profiles, S706 and Edge in 70mm, S706 in 60mm and Fully Reversible windows.  The addition of Assured takes the number of profiles to 7 and gives Polyframe customers a choice of 5 chamfered and 2 decorative profiles.  Additionally Polyframe can offer 31 colour choices EX STOCK.  All profiles are available in white, rosewood and golden oak, with S706 also being manufactured in mahogany.  The Polyframe Express colour range available in Rustique includes White Woodgrain, Cream Woodgrain, Irish Oak and Black on White – In short we can offer an extensive range of profiles and colours nationwide on a 5-day turnaround.

As innovators in the industry Polyframe have recently launched the Polylink conservatory coupling system and the Solis range of Pre Designed modular conservatories.

The Polylink system incorporates unique aluminium couplers, which combined with the factory fitted PVC frame adaptor replace the traditional method of drilling and screwing frames together.  In addition this system enables +/- 5mm of frame adjustment at each joint.  The principle of the system is that all frames have a frame adaptor attached and either an angled or straight aluminium coupler is utilized to join the frames, ensuring that the joint is both strong and permanent.  A series of Polybuttons are factory fitted to the cill and enables the frame to easily slide into position but with a secure fixing to the cill.

The range encompasses 5 styles of conservatory, in 4 sizes and 5 colour options to ensure that there is a product to suit any customer aspiration.   In addition to the options available each design has a choice of French door and opening window positions that ultimately gives over 5000 permutations for customers to choose from.

Polyframe’s portfolio is extensive and enables us to supply the full range of window and door products to our customers.  We have also invested heavily in a spray booth to enable us to supply Kolorbond sprayed colour on PVCu products in any RAL Colour.  This is perfectly complemented by the Aluminium range of windows and doors, available in any RAL colour and with U Values as low as 0.7 achievable.

Whatever our customers require we can supply from Vertical sliders, bi-folding doors, In line patios, Composite doors, the unique fire escape ladder to the full range of window installer ancillaries.

Our reputation is not just built on the quality product range that we offer but also on the additional services that we provide to our ever-expanding customer base.  As a marketing led business Polyframe has made further investment in its “in house” Marketing and Printing department with new personnel, hardware, software and printing technology.  Most of Polyframe’s customers take advantage of the unique Marketing Packages available which includes re-branding, marketing advice, bespoke brochure and web site design and printing of dedicated brochures, flyers, drop cards, posters and much much more.  As well as marketing support we also offer customers a sophisticated online ordering and quotation software system, full technical support and dedicated customer service contacts to ensure that all jobs are processed and manufactured to the highest quality and efficiency.

Major investment has also been made in production with additional sawing centres, welders and automated corner cleaners, which will allow Polyframe to continue its plans for growth throughout 2012.  This is further enhanced by new tracking software across the shop floor and despatch areas.

Looking to the future Polyframe have been extremely busy over the past 24 months, setting up satellite trading branches throughout the UK.

A nationwide network of Trade Centres are now fully operational with branches located from Glasgow to Gosport and all major cities in between.  All branches are selling the complete Polyframe range of products direct to the smaller installer, quote and process all orders locally and additionally deliver direct to site where required.  Glass, roofs, panels and lots more are also supplied to the ever-increasing Polyframe installer base.  This gives the installer direct access to a large manufacturer, its marketing material and an extensive range of products.

Peter Dyson, Polyframe Sales Director states, “ The ethos behind the Trade Centres is to offer the local window installer a complete product package and a true local point of contact.  Additionally it enables Polyframe to supply our extensive product portfolio to smaller installers who in the past we have not been able to supply due to transport logistics.  We now supply all of our branches three times a week with fully loaded articulated vehicles, with products then been delivered on smaller local vehicles.

All branches are successfully offering the Polyframe ‘Clearly Greener” Recycling Scheme for post consumer PVCu frames.  The scheme is becoming more popular with all Polyframe customers and last month alone over 60 tonnes of old frames where collected and recycled.

Polyframe are innovators in the industry and we are continually researching and developing new products and as these are launched they will be readily available through all Polyframe branches.  2015 will see some exciting developments from Polyframe with further research and development being undertaken for new products and initiatives.

In order to maintain the growth, and further develop the product portfolio, Polyframe have invested in a new manufacturing site in Halifax.  This new site gives Polyframe an additional 130 000 square feet of shop floor space and will commence manufacturing at the beginning of 2015.

One of the key factors behind the growth of Polyframe has been the ability to ensure that as customers grow their own businesses, Polyframe can maintain the levels of quality and choice as the demand increases.

With five factories in the Group, Polyframe have established a model that enables continued growth, in line with our customer base, without compromising on the quality of the product.
