The timber alternative sector within UK fenestration is one that continues to grow year after year, and is one of the sectors that continues to push design and appearance forward.
The debate has widened somewhat into what exactly “timber alternative” means. The most immediate thought would be to go to the most well known companies and highly marketed companies who offer both flush and casement window options. But it can be argued that that PVCu vertical slider market also falls into this category, as way back when many homes in the UK would have had timber vertical sliding windows.
So to keep this category as fair and as open as possible, companies eligible for the timber alternative category are those who fabricate or install PVCu or aluminium window and door products that aim to replicate their timber counterparts. Systems companies can also be part of this category, so long as they are producing a range of window and door profile that aims to replicate their timber partners. All companies must also operate in the UK fenestration market.
Residence Collection won for another year in 2016. Will they triumph again in 2017 or will they be replaced by a brand new winner?
